1991 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Dear Colleague,
The seventeenth ARLIS/SE conference will take place Friday, November
8, 1991 through Sunday, November 10, 1991 in Tampa, Florida. The majority
of the meetings will be held in the Auditorium of the Tampa-Hillsborough
County Public Library in downtown Tampa.
Enclosed in your registration packet is information on the hotel and
on the conference itself. Please register directly with the Holiday Inn
- Ashley Plaza for rooms. We have gotten a very good rate which they will
extend should you wish to stay over for Veteran's Day. The hotel forms
a quadrangle with the Library and the Performing Arts Center and we are
only one block from the tampa Museum of Art which will host our keynote
event along with ARLIS/SE.
The business meeting will include announcements of new chapter officers,
presentation of the mary Ellen LoPresti publication award, and, of course,
the art book raffle. A $5.00 contribution gives you three chances to win
a book. Multiple entries are encouraged and tickets are included in your
registration packet.
We are very easy to reach by plane (a major hub for several airlines),
train (an Amtrak station downtown) and automobile (Exit 25 off I 275 is
the Ashley Street exit and we are located at the base of that exit).
Should you have any questions concerning Tampa or the Conference itself,
please drop me a line or call. If you call and I'm not available anyone
in the Fine Arts Department can answer your questions as they were all
in on the conference planning (Braxton Bradford, Tom Causey, and Ann Schmidlin).
I also need to thank two conference committee members from the University
of South Florida (Linda McRae and Ilene Frank) for their assistance and
ideas.
We think we've come up with an exciting schedule of speakers and events
and hope you feel the same. The weather is wonderful in Tampa in November
(lots of sun and little rain) and the Florida Orchestra Masterworks is
a show not to be missed!
