ARLIS/SE

Art Libraries Society of North America/Southeast Chapter

What is ARLIS/SE?

ARLIS/SE is the Southeast Chapter of ARLIS/NA, the Art Libraries Society of North America. With over 1,500 members, ARLIS/NA is the largest professional organization devoted exclusively to the concerns of art information specialists. Founded in 1972, ARLIS/NA attracts a variety of members: art and architecture librarians, archivists, art historians, art librarianship educators, slide and photograph curators, institutions such as colleges, museums, and historical societies, and businesses such as art book publishers and dealers.

The Southeast Chapter primarily serves ARLIS/NA members who reside in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. ARLIS/SE has chapter meetings every year around October/November and all have been held in colorful southeastern cities such as Atlanta, Birmingham, Charleston, Charlotte, New Orleans, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, Sarasota, Savannah, St. Augustine, and Tampa. Brief chapter meetings are also held during the ARLIS/NA annual conference. ARLIS/SE proudly hosted the ARLIS/NA 35th Annual Conference in Atlanta, April 26-30, 2007, ARLIS/NA 24th Annual Conference in Miami Beach, April 27-May 1, 1996 and the ARLIS/NA 9th Annual Conference in New Orleans in 1980.

Current membership in ARLIS/SE is only $15.00 a year! Membership provides: subscription to ARTifacts, the chapter newsletter published two times a year; an electronic mailing list, ARLISSE-L; chapter meetings and programs; and of course the ARLIS/SE Web Site.  If you'd like to join ARLIS/SE, fill out the form!
