Meeting called to order at 8:10 A.M.
Chapter President Roberto Ferrari welcomed ARLIS/SE chapter members and guests.
OLD BUSINESS
Chapter Annual Conference
Vice-President and Conference Chair Moira Steven welcomed everyone to the conference and thanked everyone who helped: Helen Wykle, Natalia Lonchyna, Pat Thompson, Rachel Kuhn, Sandra Still, Sarah McCleskey, Kathleen List, Allen Novak, Roberto Ferrari, John Taormina, Kim Collins, Lee Sorensen, Stephen Patrick and her staff at the Atlanta College of Art Library. Conference attendance totaled 45 participants from 9 states. Special welcome was extended to SLIS University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill graduate students attending the conference. UNC-Asheville and Clemson University were recognized and thanked for donating meeting space and vans, respectively.
Membership
Secretary/Treasurer Kathleen List reported membership at 71, with 53 paid through 2002 or 2003. The chapter has 8 new members this fall—Helen Wykle(UNC-Asheville), Martine Sherrill(Wake Forest), Phyllis Pivorun(Clemson University), Sarah Legins(Clemson University), Tammy Wells-Angerer(UNC-Chapel Hill), Miriam Intrator(UNC-Chapel Hill), Susan Chaisson(Florida State University), and Lorraine Tipaldi (UNC-Asheville)
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Kathleen List reported a balance carried forward for 1/1/02 $2,020.79. The current balance on hand is $2,828.84. Income for the period 1/1/02 to 11/6/02 was $3,470.89, including $2,990 in conference income and $480 in dues. Expenses for the period were $2,661.95, including $128.89 in final expenses of the 2001 conference, $324.67 in chapter operating expenses, and $2,208.39 in 2002 conference expenses to date. Copies of the Cash Flow and Itemized Categories Reports were distributed at the meeting.
Archives
Lee Sorensen reported that the ARLIS/SE archives on deposit at Duke University have been processed.
Newsletter

Webmaster’s Report
Webmaster Sarah McCleskey reviewed the features of the redesign of the new website and the chapter’s new domain names www.arlis-se.org and www.arlis-se.com. Roberto offered thanks and congratulations on behalf of the chapter to Sarah for her considerable work on the website.
Listserv Report
Ann Lindell reported that the listserv is going well. She has filtered a lot of spam this year. Members can notify Ann if their email address changes.
Chapter Historian
Chapter Historian Stephen Patrick reminded members that the chapter’s 30th anniversary is coming up in two years.
ACRL-ARTS Program at ALA Atlanta
Stephen Patrick reported that the ACRL-ARTS program at ALA sponsored by ARLIS/SE and hosted at the Woodruff Center and the Atlanta College of Art Library went very well and was well-received.
Membership Recruitment
Kim Collins reported that special chapter membership recruitment efforts are on hold while we see what ARLIS/NA is doing. For existing chapter members, Kim Collins will notify members who have not renewed since 2001 to encourage them to continue their membership.
EXECUTIVE BOARD UPDATE
Roberto Ferrari read a lengthy and informative report from ARLIS/NA South Regional Representative Laura Schwartz. Laura, who was appointed interim representative when Paula Hardin left the region to accept a position at OCLC this year, is now the permanent representative. News from national includes a new, members-only section of the ARLIS/NA website, a chapters handbook, new logo, and 2003 conference news. Roberto sent an official email to ARLIS/NA President Daniel Starr on behalf of the chapter supporting the goals of streamlining the national organizational structure.
NEW BUSINESS
Election of Officers
Sandra Still presented the following nomination for new officers for 2003: Sarah McCleskey, Vice-President/President-Elect; Grace Reid for Secretary/Treasurer. There were no nominations from the floor. Motion by Kim Collins to accept the slate as new officers, second by Natalia Lonchyna. Motion passed. Chapter officers and appointments are:

Roberto offered thanks and
appreciation to everyone for a good year and to Kathleen List(Ringling School
of Art and Design) for her work as Secretary/Treasurer, to Past President
Natalia Lonchyna(North Carolina Museum of Art) and LoPresti Chair Tom
Caswell(University of Florida). The
members thanked Roberto for his leadership as President.
ARLIS/NA Conference Welcome Party
Robert Ferrari made a motion that
the chapter donate $250 to the national conference Welcome Party. Second by Sarah McCleskey. Motion passed. Kathleen List will send
the check.
ARLIS/SE 2003 Joint Conference
Roberto Ferrari reported that the
Joint Conference with ARLIS Texas/Mexico Chapter will be held November 13-16,
2003 in New Orleans. Fifty rooms are
available at the Hampton Inn Garden District at $99 and $109 for the
conference. Norbert Raacke reported
that the New Orleans Museum of Art will provide meeting space with food service
availability. Roberto and John Evans of
the Texas/Mexico chapter wrote successful grants to ARLIS/NA for $500 each to
support the conference. Sarah Legins
and Sarah McCleskey will set up a conference web site.
Announcements/Member News
Pat Thompson acknowledged SLIS students and reported that UNC is discussing the possibility of offering a dual MA/MLIS. Rachel Kuhn reported that
SECAC will have a VRA session, which she and John Taormina are coordinating for
the Raleigh, NC conference.
